EPL: Chelsea’s injury setback before their matchup with Bournemouth

Chelsea have suffered an injury blow ahead of their away Premier League tie with Bournemouth on Sunday, October 17.

Chelsea midfielder, Romeo Lavia is set for at least six weeks on the sidelines after he suffered an ankle injury in training last week.

Lavia has been working on his fitness at Chelsea’s training ground (Cobham) as he gets up to speed under manager Mauricio Pochettino.

His introduction to Pochettino’s team was further delayed by an injury suffered a few days ago.

According to The Mail, the Belgian has undergone scans which have revealed ligament damage.

But while Chelsea are still to confirm the severity of Lavia’s problem, there are concerns the player will be unavailable for at least a month and a half.

That timeline could rule him out until after next month’s international break when Chelsea return to action against Premier League London rival Arsenal on 21 October.

In the meantime, Lavia could miss Chelsea’s matches against Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Fulham and Burnley in addition to the Carabao Cup third round fixture with Brentford.

Lavia joined Chelsea from Southampton in a £58million deal in August.

The 19-year-old, however, is still waiting to make his debut for the Blues.
