Many motorists spent the night on Tuesday at filling stations in Jos, the Plateau State capital queuing for petrol as the ongoing scarcity of petroleum products hits the Home of Peace and Tourisms.

It was gathered that there were long queues at NNPC and Mobil stations on Wednesday as officials of the filling stations were selling the product at N145 regulated price, while there were minimum queues at other independent marketers’ stations, who were selling at N190 per litre.

An official at one of the filling stations, who preferred anonymity, told reporters that as at 7 a.m. today, no fewer than 80 motorists were already on queue at the station waiting for commencement of sales.

“We have issued over 76 motorists with the stations stamped and numbered tickets to access the station as soon as we open sales,” he said.

Speaking to journalist, the Operations Controller, Jos Office of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Ceaser Douglas, said that the situation would soon return to normal as stations have started receiving supply.

“Sales were going on in an orderly manner at stations that he supervised just this morning,” Douglas said.
