Niger Junta disrespected Nigeria by cutting diplomatic ties- Doyin Okupe

The former director-general of the Peter Obi presidential campaign, Doyin Okupe, said the military junta in Niger disrespected and demeaned Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by cutting diplomatic ties with the country.

Okupe disclosed this on Friday through his Twitter handle while reacting to the political situation in Niger Republic.

GISTS VILLA News recalls that the Military juntas in Niger on Friday severed diplomatic relationships with Nigeria.

Okupe condemning the action of the juntas in Niger, said any action taken to rubbish Nigeria should not be tolerated.

According to him, all Nigerians must set out all political differences and join hands to protect the nation’s democracy.

“I am not suggesting we go to war with Niger. But Niger cannot rubbish Nigeria. I, as a patriot, will not take that. We should not be quiet because of internal differences & allow this to happen. Presidents are not permanent. We must all protect that seat; else it’s not worth fighting for.

“I will always stand for and with Nigeria, no matter who the President is. You can only appreciate this with years of statesmanship and political maturity.

“Did not ask that Nigeria should go to war. I condemn the military leadership in Niger; they disrespected the Nigerian President and demeaned our country by breaking diplomatic relationships with us, even though we initiated a peace move…” he wrote.

Recall that Tinubu wrote to the Senate on Friday seeking a military option to the political situation in Niger.
