Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has dismissed reports claiming he is not fit for Nigeria’s first game in the 2018 World Cup qualifying series against Zambia this week.
The Super Eagles captain is yet to play at all under new Blues manager Antonio Conte this season, sparking speculations he is nursing an injury and will not be available for his country.
Mikel Obi, who has won 58 caps for Nigeria, has now spoken out to calm fears.
“I don’t know where the story about my being injured came from. I have no injury,” the 29-year-old told the NFF website.
“All the other players and myself are fit and ready and we are determined to start the World Cup race on a winning note.”
Super Eagles players are expected from Monday at their Abuja camp, where they will prepare for the match in Ndola, before flying out of the country on Friday.
