A man has pounced on his wife to coma for allegedly investing the family’s savings in the controversial money doubling scheme [Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox], better known as MMM.
The housewife, simply identified as Mrs. Ogenyi, was beaten to stupor by her furious husband after she admitted to ‘breaking the family’s saving box and investing the money into MMM.’
According to Daily Post, trouble was stirred on Sunday afternoon, at their residence at Balogun Street, Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos after the husband returned from a trip to his hometown in Benue and discovered that the family saving box was missing.
Upon inquiry from his son, Oche, the father was told that his wife went out with her friend around 4pm and had not returned.
The husband, a driver with one of the commercial transport companies, later found the box in the wardrobe but it was broken with all he had kept gone.
A source who witnessed the incident revealed that after a while, the woman came back and was rattled by his arrival as she was not expecting to see him at home until month end due to the nature of his job.
The source, a co-tenant, further revealed that the husband inquired to know who broke the saving box but the wife could not give him any satisfactory answer.
According to the source, the husband had saved the money, over N86, 000, for their new accommodation.
Apparently peeved by her action, the man pounced on his wife, beating her blue black.
All her efforts to explain to the husband that the money would yield income in the next 30 days fell on deaf ears as the husband insisted she must cough out the money before morning.
In an attempt to empty his anger on her, the man locked the door of their one room apartment to prevent sympathisers from rescuing the helpless woman. He eventually hit her with breakable plate and she collapsed.
The source said on realizing his wife was unconscious, he quickly ran out of the room, living the woman and their three-year-old son and fled to unknown destination.
It was the prompt intervention of the neighbours that made it possible for her to be taken to the hospital even as battles for survival.
