To impact in-depth knowledge of the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, (ACJL), 2022, Delta State Government has restated its resolve to ensure that all counsel train and retrained

Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mr Omamuzo Erebe, stated this in Warri during a two-day capacity building workshop for counsel in the Delta South and Central districts.

He stated that the primary objective of the workshop was to build the capacity of state counsel on the provisions of the law, adding that the ministry placed a high premium on the continuous development of its staff.

According to him, the law had several innovations, designed to improve the administration of the criminal justice system in the state.

Some participants, including the Zonal Head of Ughelli Zonal Office of the ministry, Mr. Peter Dabry, and his counterpart at the Sapele Zonal Office, Mr. Harward Edevbie, commended the ministry for organising the workshop, which, they said, had impacted positively on their knowledge of the law.

The participants also commended the ministry for their efforts in assisting in the reforms and innovations in the administration of Justice in the state.

The resource persons at the workshop included Mr. Erebe, Mr Ernest Edomwonyi, Director in the Department of Public Defender; Mr Anthony Orhorhoro Director, Department of Public Prosecution and Mr Jonah Otite, Head of Chambers, Office of the Solicitor-General/Permanent Secretary, all from the ministry.
