Uche Agbo has expressed his surprise, after new Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, invited him to the team ahead of next month’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Zambia .
The Granada defender was called up as a replacement for Leon Balogun who is injured.
Agbo thanked Rohr for having confidence in him and vowed to cement a place in the starting team.
“It was a big surprise to me when the new Eagles manager called me to inform me of my inclusion in the team that will play Zambia, I thanked him and I made up my mind to fight for a place knowing full well that there are so many good players in the squad,” he told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“I have been working very hard for my club and I hope to bring my hard work to bear in the Eagles by getting my debut. I am happy and raring to go and prove myself. By the grace of God, the Eagles will win in Ndola and go ahead to pick a World Cup ticket. I am just happy to get a call and I will reciprocate the gesture by playing well.”
Agbo is expected to arrive in Abuja this weekend, ahead of the match on October 9.
