Manchester City starlet, Chidiebere Nwakali said he is motivated for success by his late grand father, Samuel Sunday Ashimole Nwakali, who according to him, worked extra hard to bring up his kids even in the stiffest challenges of adversity.
The youngster won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Dubai, United Arab Emirate in 2013 with the Nigeria U-17 team.
Nwakali later signed a contract with English Premier League side, Manchester City and was loaned out to Norwegian side, IK Start.
Chidiebere spoke to reporters during the burial of his 92-year-old grandfather at his Eziokele, Eziobodo, near Owerri, Imo State on Saturday.
He said, “It was sad we lost him at this point in time, but we are proud to have had him as a grandfather.
“He lived a good life. At 92, we can only celebrate him for a wonderful life he lived.
“Despite ours being a polygamous family, he brought us all up eating from one plate.
“He worked hard to raise his children despite hard times through his farming profession, and it is such hard work disposition of his that endeared him to all.
“For me, that has been my source of courage, motivation and inspiration as a player.
“I’ll continue to work hard to ensure success.”
