Harry Kane has been pictured wearing a protective boot and hobbling on crutches just 24 hours after a nasty ankle injury against Bournemouth.
The 24-year-old Tottenham striker limped off after suffering a sickening ankle twist in their 4-1 win over the Cherries on Sunday. Kane was due to have a scan today to discover the extent of the damage – but it was postponed until the swelling subsides. The injury comes just 99 days before England’s World Cup opener.
The England man rolled his ankle in a collision with Bournemouth’s Asmir Begovic while scoring a goal, which was subsequently disallowed by referee Mike Dean.
Superstar Kane attempted to return to the pitch but after a lengthy consultation with the club’s doctor headed down the tunnel throwing a water bottle in frustration.
The news is a huge blow for England boss Gareth Southgate, who will announce his squad on Thursday for the friendlies away to Holland and home to Italy.
