The Presidency has on Monday night declared that President Muhammdu Buhari would seek a second term in office at the end of his first tenure, which would end in 2019 – vehemently dismissing assertions that ordinary Nigerians would abandon him.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, stated this in a strong worded statement made available to journalists.
Shehu was reacting to a statement credited to a former member of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, Alhaji Buba Galadima, that the President would be abandoned by the people in 2019.
Mr. Galadima had in an interview alleged that President Buhari would be abandoned by the people in 2019.
However, the Presidential spokesperson said:
According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari is far from isolation and he enjoys very strategic relationship with ordinary Nigerians; the relationship is as solid as the proverbial rock.
