Sarki Sasa is suspended by the Hausa community for allegedly showing disrespect and disobedience to Olubadan.
The Sarki Sasa, Sasa, Ibadan in the Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State, Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin, has been suspended.
DAILY POST gathered that Maiyasin was suspended by the Hausa community in the state on Wednesday at a Hausawa meeting over alleged insubordination and disrespect to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Olalekan Balogun.
He was also accused of unlawfully conferring chieftaincy titles on people without recourse to Sarki Hausawa of Ibadanland.
The meeting was headed by Seriki Hausawa of Ibadanland, Alhaji Ali Zungeru, and held at Sabo, Ibadan North LGA.
Zungeru noted that the continued stay of Maiyasin as District Head was capable of igniting a crisis in the area, hence his suspension.
He added that the suspension order shall stand pending the decision of the entire Arewa Community Council in Ibadan.
He said, “It was during the reign of my elder brother, Shuaibu Dikko III, in 1983 that Maiyasin was appointed as a District Head, otherwise known as Baale in Yorubaland, for administrative convenience with the hope of maintaining peace, sanity, and justice among the Hausa community in the Sasa area.
“It is in line with this, and to avoid anything that can lead to intra- and inter-communal clashes, as we did experience before in Sabo-Sagamu, Sabo-Ile-Ife, and recently in Sasa community in Akinyele Local Government, I, Zungeru, the Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadanland, and all the members of Arewa traditional institutions have decided to suspend the appointment of Maiyasin as the District Head of Hausa community in Sasa area, over insubordination, disrespect for the referred stool of Olubadan of Ibadanland, and unlawful conferment of Chieftaincy titles on the people without recourse to Sarki Hausawa of Ibadanland.
“The suspension order shall stand pending the decision of the entire Arewa Community Council in Ibadan.”
