Manchester City will leave talent worth £100million at home when they jet off for their US tour.
Coach Pep Guardiola has told Eliaquim Mangala, Joe Hart, Samir Nasri, Wilfried Bony and Jason Denayer, they will be left in Manchester to train, as he will put his squad through their paces in games against Manchester United, Real Madrid and Tottenham.
According to the Daily Mail, with Claudio Bravo on a break following Chile’s Confederations Cup campaign, new signing Ederson is Guardiola’s only option in goal, he is expected to turn to a youth team player rather than out-of-favour Hart, who will be flogged after spending a season on loan in Torino.
Nasri, a £24m signing, £28m Bony, £10m-rated academy star Denayer and £40m Eliaquim Mangala are also surplus to requirements.
While playing high-profile friendlies may put them in the shop window, City are aware the players need to be able to travel to clubs to try a seal a move.
And Guardiola is keen to work with players who have a future as he tries to get his tactics across.
