The offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the 18 Local governments of Ondo state are currently shut down as protesting youths take to the street in droves.
It was learnt that the protesters are seeking for the inclusion of Eyitayo Jegede, PDP Makarfi-led candidate, in the November 26, 2016 gubernatorial race.
Jegede is currently seeking the Apex court to undo the verdict of the lower courts in the substitution of his name against the Ali Modu Sheriff-led candidate.
This is coming on the back of criticism and rejection by the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the request made by a faction of the the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Electoral Body to postpone the governorship election in the state – which is to be held on Saturday.
The PDP had cited its internal crisis as the reason for the request, however, the APC stated that the PDP cannot hold the people of Ondo state and the entire country as ‘hostage’ on account of its internal crisis.
