Master magician, David Blaine, who is prominent for his dangerous and death defying tricks, has landed himself in the hospital, after accidentally shooting himself on camera.
The 43-year-old illusionist pulled off yet another death-defying stunt on Tuesday night – catching a speeding bullet in his mouth – for his new ABC show Beyond Magic.
Upon catching the bullet, things went pear shaped when the bullet snapped the protective mouth guard he had on in half and then hit him in the back of the throat resulting in an injury.
Blaine, who was rushed to the hospital for treatment, told the channel which carries his show that he will still perform the trick again during his upcoming live tour.
The Brooklyn native has been buried alive, frozen in time and stood on a pillar 30 metres high for 35 hours.
Blaine first attempted – and succeeded with – the bullet catch in 2009, when he had his best friend and fellow magician, Bill Kalush, fire the shot. [Rolling Stone]Nicknamed the modern-day Houdini, Blaine first attempted – and succeeded with – the bullet catch in 2009, when he had his best friend and fellow magician, Bill Kalush, fire the shot.
However, this time around, he wanted to be the person shooting the gun at himself.
The major worry surrounding the trick was that Blaine would have to pull a string rigged to the gun that would fire, and it was imperative he was incredibly still and relaxed the entire time.
To prepare for that he wore a thin bulletproof vest and was shot multiple times in the chest.
