Orji Uzor Kalu, a former governor of Abia State, has resigned as a member of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) and formally joined the All Progressives congress (APC).
PPA, which was founded by Kalu in 2006, produced T. A. Orji and Ikedi Ohakim as Governors of Abia and Imo States respectively in the 2007 elections.
However, in a letter signed on November 14, 2016, Kalu stated that he took the decision to leave the PPA after wide consultations with political associates, followers, loyalists and well-wishers.
The letter, which was made available to newsmen on Tuesday read:
The Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led National Working Committee of the party received Kalu on Wednesday at the National Secretariat.
Speaking to the ruling party, the ex governor said he has finally yielded to pressures from his friends and well wishers to contribute his quota to building the party in Nigeria especially in the South East.
